On July 17, TrendForce unveiled its latest research report, revealing that Korean and American memory manufacturers intend to substantially curtail or halt the supply of LPDDR4X between 2025 and 2026. Nevertheless, current mobile processor chip specifications have yet to catch up, failing to synchronously support LPDDR5X, thereby creating a notable supply-demand imbalance. To preempt potential shortages, brand manufacturers are escalating their procurement of LPDDR4X, a primary catalyst behind the current surge in contract prices. As leading suppliers pare down production of older-generation products, the constriction of LPDDR4X supply has become an inevitable outcome. It is anticipated that this wave of price hikes will persist until early next year and will only start to abate once LPDDR5X is widely adopted by brand manufacturers.
