In response to the recent surge of fires caused by the parking and charging of electric bicycles within Huawei's Lianqiu Lake Park, the company has announced a series of measures to enhance safety. Effective July 21, 2025, the electric bicycle parking area in the underground garage will be eliminated, with the new parking zone relocated to the park's gate perimeter. Concurrently, the park will prohibit the entry of electric bicycles, scooters, and hoverboards, restricting access to human-powered bicycles and fuel motorcycles only, which must be parked in designated areas.
To mitigate the inconvenience for employees, Huawei has upgraded the Meituan shared e-bike service within the park. Multiple parking spots have been added, equipped with sun-protective cushions to enhance user comfort. Riding is restricted to within park boundaries, with bicycles required to be returned to specified locations. The new fee structure starts at 0.5 yuan per 10 minutes, with an overtime charge of 1 yuan per additional 5 minutes. To maintain order, shared bicycles from outside the park will not be permitted entry.
As Huawei's largest global R&D center, Lianqiu Lake Park specializes in cutting-edge fields such as terminal chips, wireless networks, and the Internet of Things. This initiative underscores the company's commitment to both innovation and safety.
