Panasonic Energy, a division of Panasonic Holdings, announced on July 14 that its state-of-the-art lithium-ion battery factory in Kansas, United States, dedicated to producing batteries for battery electric vehicles (BEVs), has officially commenced operations. The factory has embarked on mass production of 2170 type battery cells, aiming for an annual production capacity of 32 GWh. Construction of this expansive facility, which spans approximately 1.2 million square meters, began in November 2022, and it is anticipated to create 4,000 direct jobs and generate approximately 8,000 indirect employment opportunities in the region.
