A collaborative team, led by Professors Wang Zhiwei and Yao Yugui from the School of Physics at Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), alongside the M.Z. Hasan team from Princeton University, has unveiled a groundbreaking discovery. For the first time, they have observed the presence of a topological excitonic insulator within the three-dimensional crystal material Ta₂Pd₃Te₅. Furthermore, they have determined that the momentum order of its excitonic condensate state can be tuned. This monumental advancement paves the way for innovative research into topological quantum states within correlated electron systems. The research findings have been published in the esteemed journal Nature Physics, under the title "Topological Excitonic Insulator with Tunable Momentum Order".
