This week, Intel embarked on a substantial downsizing initiative, personally informing each affected employee of their status. The layoffs, a result of prolonged production hurdles and declining sales, have been in the works for some time. The company's new CEO, Lip-Bu Tan, first alerted employees to the impending large-scale layoffs in April of this year. The execution of the layoff plan was subsequently formalized in July.
