In May, industrial orders in Germany recorded a 1.4% decline on a month-on-month (MoM) basis, significantly exceeding analysts' predictions of a mere 0.1% drop. This sharp decrease was primarily attributed to a notable fall in orders within the computer, electronics, and optics sector. Domestically, orders plunged 7.8% MoM, whereas foreign orders witnessed an increase of 2.9%. The Federal Statistical Office of Germany emphasized that the contraction in new orders was predominantly concentrated in the manufacturing industry of computers, electronics, and optics.
