Emerging from SenseTime at the end of 2024, domestic GPU specialist Sunrise has carved a niche for itself as a "chip company deeply versed in AI." The company has successfully secured multiple funding rounds, with its latest injection nearing RMB 1 billion. Notable investors include Huaxu Fund, a subsidiary of Sany Group, and Fourth Paradigm. Sunrise has unveiled two self-developed GPU products: the S1, a cloud-edge visual inference chip, and the S2, a large model inference GPGPU designed to compete with NVIDIA's A100. Additionally, the company is developing the S3, a multi-modal large model inference chip. Both the S1 and S2 have entered mass production, with over 20,000 units of the S1 already shipped, and the S2 boasting full in-house development from instruction set to compiler tool chain. Sunrise aims to commence mass production of the S3 in 2026, with the ambitious goal of slashing inference computing costs to one-tenth of their original level. The company is helmed by co-CEOs Wang Zhan and Wang Yong, and boasts a core technical team of approximately 150 individuals, a relatively lean structure compared to its competitors, with a size that ranges from one-third to one-fifth of their technical staff.
