On June 26, SEMI unveiled its latest report on the outlook for 300mm fabs. The report anticipates a robust and sustained growth trajectory for the global semiconductor manufacturing industry, with production capacity projected to expand at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7% from late 2024 to 2028, ultimately reaching an unprecedented monthly output of 11.1 million wafers. At the heart of this expansion lies the relentless advancement in advanced process capacity (7nm and smaller), which is expected to surge from 0.85 million wafers per month in 2024 to 1.4 million wafers per month in 2028, marking a CAGR of 14%—double the industry's average growth rate.
