Recently, a tech blogger engaged in a dialogue with representatives from China Telecom regarding the advancement of eSIM technology, shedding light on significant hurdles faced in its promotion. According to insiders, China Telecom has yet to confirm its intention to proceed with the eSIM rollout in tandem with China Unicom and China Mobile in the second half of this year, citing technical issues as the primary obstacle. The core challenge stems from the fact that Tiantong satellite communication necessitates authentication through physical SIM cards, impeding the widespread adoption of eSIM. Nonetheless, the blogger remains optimistic that these technical barriers will ultimately be overcome.
