The State Administration of Radio and Television is advancing the "Ultra-HD Development Year" initiative, aiming to introduce an additional 18 million cable TV and IPTV ultra-HD set-top boxes by 2025, thereby elevating the nationwide count of ultra-HD terminals to 300 million. Key channels of the China Media Group, along with nine provincial and municipal satellite TVs from regions including Beijing, Shanghai, and Jiangsu, will progressively transition to broadcasting ultra-HD signals. Furthermore, Beijing and Shenzhen have commenced the process of discontinuing standard-definition channel signals on their cable TV networks.
