Recently, popular YouTube blogger Gamers Nexus was presented with a non-functional AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor by a concerned viewer. Upon closer inspection and disassembly, it became evident that this processor was a meticulously crafted counterfeit. The interior was hollow, devoid of any chips or functional components, including the crucial IO chip. While the exterior casing closely mimics the genuine article, upon further examination, several glaring inconsistencies emerged. The printed circuit board (PCB) lacked essential solder joints, the number and arrangement of capacitors differed from the original design, and discrepancies were noted in the label font and serial number.
Gamers Nexus strongly advises consumers to exercise vigilance when purchasing processors and to scrutinize product details closely. To ensure authenticity and avoid such scams, they recommend purchasing through official channels or reputable retailers.
