On June 20, Taiwanese media outlets revealed that prominent panel manufacturers Innolux, AU Optronics, and CPT are vigorously pursuing the sale of their facilities, with semiconductor companies emerging as the primary interested buyers. Amidst an oversaturated LCD panel industry, these panel makers have embarked on a restructuring journey, aiming to enhance operational efficiency and pursue transformational opportunities. Rumors suggest that United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) is keen on acquiring CPT's plant located in the Southern Taiwan Science Park. Meanwhile, Innolux's Plant 5 in the same park is in negotiations with Micron Technology regarding a potential sale, and AU Optronics' plant in Singapore is also actively seeking suitable buyers. CPT has refrained from commenting on the rumored acquisition by UMC.
