SATAS, a collaborative research initiative founded by Intel and several Japanese firms, focuses on standardizing and automating semiconductor backend processes. The consortium has announced the selection of Sharp's plant in Kameyama, Mie Prefecture, Japan, as a leading site for research and development. This choice aims to forge industry-wide standards essential for automating semiconductor backend processes, as well as to develop and validate necessary equipment. SATAS anticipates the launch of a fully automated pilot production line by 2027.
