OpenAI is expediting its business restructuring efforts to secure the substantial investment pledged by SoftBank. In late March, OpenAI announced that SoftBank would inject $10 billion as initial funding, with an additional $30 billion planned by year's end. However, this ambitious plan has hit a roadblock due to Microsoft, its major shareholder. Per the agreement, should OpenAI fail to transition into a profit-oriented entity by December 31, SoftBank's total investment may plummet to $20 billion.
