Micron Technology has recently informed its customers of the impending phase-out of DDR4 memory, with shipments expected to gradually cease over the next 2 to 3 quarters, signaling the end of the DDR4 era. According to Sumit Sadana, Executive Vice President of Micron, there will continue to be a significant shortage of DDR4 memory in the market. This transition primarily affects DDR4 and LPDDR4 products in the PC and data center segments. Following the next 3 quarters, Micron plans to scale down or discontinue the production of DDR4 DRAM for consumer electronics, personal computers, and data centers.
