The US industrial sector is keeping a watchful eye on the Sino-US trade landscape, driven by its pressing need for rare earth supplies. On April 4, China's Ministry of Commerce and General Administration of Customs announced the implementation of export controls on seven types of medium and heavy rare earth elements: samarium, gadolinium, terbium, dysprosium, lutetium, scandium, and yttrium. These elements are essential for both military and civilian applications. This development has imposed significant supply constraints on numerous US manufacturing industries that heavily rely on rare earth materials, threatening potential production halts.
