Following EVGA's exit from the graphics card market, its hardware division has steadily declined, leaving users to fend for themselves when encountering issues. Recently, an owner of the EVGA Z690 Classified motherboard encountered a vexing problem: their system refused to boot correctly after upgrading to an NVIDIA RTX 50 series graphics card. To their surprise, the user managed to circumvent the issue with an unconventional yet effective "quick fix": by taping over a portion of the pins on the graphics card's PCIe interface. While this workaround is not endorsed by the manufacturer, it has proven to be a temporary lifeline in this particular scenario.
