Quan Yongxuan, Vice Chairman of Samsung's Device Solutions (DS) division, revealed that Samsung will commence mass production of LPDDR6 memory utilizing the cutting-edge sixth-generation "1c DRAM" process in the second half of this year. The company intends to supply this advanced memory to leading technology firms, including Qualcomm. This strategic move aims to counteract the rising competition from Chinese memory manufacturer Changxin Memory, which has already completed the development of LPDDR5X memory. Industry insiders anticipate Changxin Memory to achieve full-scale mass production by 2026. In response to this competitive landscape, Samsung has significantly expedited its independent research and development efforts for LPDDR6.
