Recently, the research team at Shaoxin Lab, under the leadership of Zhou Peng and Wang Shuiyuan, has achieved a monumental breakthrough in visual restoration. They have successfully developed the world's first wide-spectrum visual prosthesis, capable of covering the entire range from visible light to near-infrared II (470-1550nm). This innovative prosthesis not only restores visible light perception in blind animals but also grants them the ability to sense infrared light, conferring a "super vision" akin to that depicted in the science fiction film Terminator. This groundbreaking achievement offers newfound hope for individuals suffering from blindness due to retinal degeneration, paving the way for potential sight restoration.
