Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company's (TSMC) groundbreaking 2-nanometer process technology has garnered significant interest from tech giants, with leading firms like Apple, MediaTek, and Qualcomm already securing access to this cutting-edge technology. According to reports, TSMC has been engaging in risk production of 2-nanometer processes at its Baoshan Fab facility in Hsinchu Science Park since July of last year, achieving a current yield rate exceeding 90%. The company aims to commence mass production in 2025. Despite the exorbitant cost of each wafer, which reportedly reaches as high as $30,000, these companies remain committed to substantial investments to maintain their competitive edge. The astronomical cost and the formidable technical barriers associated with this process technology could well shape the landscape of future market competitions.
