Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) is poised to commence production of its cutting-edge 2nm process. Supply chain insiders reveal that the cumulative expenditure from research and development to mass production for this process amounts to a staggering $725 million, resulting in a dramatic increase in the price of wafer foundry services to $30,000 per piece. For the even more advanced 1.4nm process, projections indicate that the foundry price could escalate to $45,000. TSMC intends to scale up its 2nm production at its Kaohsiung facility and has already started accepting reservations for related orders, with full-scale production anticipated in the latter half of the year.
