Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) is contemplating the construction of a state-of-the-art chip fabrication facility in the United Arab Emirates, a venture that necessitates approval from the United States government. According to reports, TSMC has engaged in discussions with officials from the Trump administration regarding this initiative, aiming to establish a "super-large wafer factory" on par with the scope of its Arizona campus. Previously, discord between the United States and the United Arab Emirates over issues such as capacity management and technological sovereignty had led to the shelving of this project. However, with the incoming Trump administration, the United Arab Emirates has reignited its efforts to push forward with the venture. At present, the total construction cost for this project remains undecided.
