On May 31, insiders revealed that Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) is reportedly evaluating the feasibility of setting up an advanced chip manufacturing facility in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Discussions on this matter have already taken place between TSMC and officials from the Trump administration. The greenlight for this potential Middle Eastern investment venture hinges on approval from the U.S. government. Over the past few months, TSMC has engaged in several rounds of negotiations with the U.S. Special Envoy for the Middle East and representatives from UAE-based firm MGX, focusing on the investment in constructing a large-scale wafer fabrication plant akin to the six-factory complex in Arizona.
