Hong Kong stocks commenced trading with the Hang Seng Index declining by 0.28% and the Hang Seng TECH Index slipping by 0.52%. The petrochemical and semiconductor sectors shone brightly, as PetroChina and SMIC surged by over 1% each. Conversely, the retail and automotive sectors led the downturn, with Meituan plummeting by more than 4% and BYD dipping by over 1%. Among newly listed stocks, PegBio Pharma opened with a loss of more than 16%, while Jihong Shares opened with a gain of over 43%.
