China's Telecommunications Business Revenue Hits 598.5 Billion Yuan in First Four Months

On May 26, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology reported that China's telecommunications sector demonstrated robust performance in the first four months of this year, with both revenue and business volume growth rates showing signs of recovery. Mobile Internet access traffic continued its upward trend, and the development of new information infrastructure, including 5G and Gigabit Optical Networks, advanced steadily. During this period, the cumulative revenue of the telecommunications business reached 598.5 billion yuan, marking a 1% increase from the previous year. As of the end of April, the total number of fixed broadband Internet access users rose to 680 million, with 220 million users enjoying access speeds of 1000Mbps or higher, accounting for 32.4% of the total. The number of mobile phone users maintained stable growth, with 5G mobile phone users surpassing 1.081 billion, comprising nearly 60% of the total user base. Mobile Internet traffic experienced a 15.6% year-on-year increase. Furthermore, the construction of 5G networks is progressing in an orderly fashion, with the total number of 5G base stations reaching 4.439 million by the end of April, representing 34.9% of the total number of mobile base stations.
