Microsoft has unveiled the Smart App Control feature in the Windows 11 22H2 update. This innovative tool boasts substantial performance enhancements over traditional antivirus software by preemptively intercepting harmful applications before they execute. By eliminating the necessity for continuous background file scanning, Smart App Control significantly reduces the system's workload, thereby enhancing the overall user experience. Leveraging advanced machine learning algorithms and cloud-based data, this feature proactively identifies and blocks new and sophisticated threats. Notably, Smart App Control is automatically enabled on fresh installations of Windows 11 22H2 and later versions to safeguard device security. Users upgrading from earlier versions, however, will not have direct access to this feature. To date, there have been no official reports of any performance issues associated with Smart App Control.
