Under the leadership of Weihua Pei, a team from the Institute of Semiconductors at the Chinese Academy of Sciences has pioneered a groundbreaking innovation in the realm of brain-computer interfaces. They have developed a novel transparent neural electrode technology that offers a fresh approach to multimodal, high-resolution neural signal acquisition and long-term in vivo neural recording. By ingeniously integrating optoelectronic materials with flexible electrode processes, this technology seamlessly merges transparent electrodes with a compact head-mounted fluorescence microscope. This fusion enables the simultaneous capture of neuronal activities with both high temporal and spatial resolution. This remarkable advancement signifies a significant leap forward for brain-computer interfaces and neuroscientific research alike.
