The United States has initiated an investigation into the semiconductor industry under Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962, encompassing areas such as chips, components of semiconductor manufacturing equipment, and downstream derivative products. This development has garnered significant attention from key semiconductor hubs like Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea. In response, TSMC's Arizona subsidiary has submitted a position paper to the Bureau of Industry and Security at the U.S. Department of Commerce, underscoring that any measures undertaken by the U.S. government should not hinder security policy objectives, particularly those related to advanced semiconductor production in Arizona.
