Intel is reportedly considering the sale of its Network and Edge Group (NEX) in order to sharpen its focus on core PC and data center chip businesses. CEO Pat Gelsinger believes this strategic move will bolster the company's competitiveness in key markets. Currently, discussions regarding the sale of NEX are in their nascent stages and have not yet advanced to a formal process. Intel has initiated contact with potential buyers and investment bankers, though no official investment bank has been hired as of yet. Internal deliberations also encompass evaluating the feasibility of partnerships or equity sales. NEX is forecasted to generate $5.8 billion in revenue by 2024, with its financial performance for the first quarter of this year already being integrated into other business segments. Previously, Intel sold a controlling stake in its Altera division as part of its broader business revitalization strategy.
