Earlier this month, a dramatic arrest unfolded at Incheon International Airport in South Korea. A former outsourced employee of SK Hynix, surnamed Kim, was apprehended just before boarding a flight to China, amid allegations of attempting to disclose HBM memory packaging technology to Chinese entities. According to reports, South Korean authorities had been investigating Kim for several months and managed to intercept him before his scheduled departure to China. Kim is accused of retaining 11,000 images pertaining to HBM memory technology during his employment at SK Hynix, which he allegedly tampered with by removing brand and confidentiality logos. Furthermore, while applying for positions at Chinese companies such as Huawei HiSilicon, Kim is said to have referenced these stolen confidential documents, thereby violating South Korea's Trade Secrets Act and the Act on Prevention of Unfair Competition.
