TSMC: Accelerated Global Expansion with Nine New Factories in 2023, Including Fab 25 in Taichung

Chang Tsung-sheng, Vice President of Operations at TSMC, announced an ambitious expansion plan. From 2021 to 2024, TSMC will build five new factories annually. This year, the company will expedite the construction of nine factories, encompassing eight wafer fabs and one advanced packaging facility. Fab 20 in Hsinchu and Fab 22 in Kaohsiung, both designated as 2-nanometer mass production hubs, broke ground in 2022 and are set to commence operations this year. Additionally, Fab 25 in Taichung is anticipated to start construction by the end of this year, aiming for mass production of even more advanced technologies by 2028.
