In a collaborative effort, the Shanghai Institute of Ceramics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Shanghai Jiao Tong University have made a groundbreaking discovery. They have found that a specific class of brittle semiconductors demonstrates exceptional plastic deformation and processing capabilities at a temperature of 500K. Leveraging the traditional metal "warm processing" technique, the research team has successfully crafted high-quality, self-supporting semiconductor films with adjustable thicknesses and superior performance. Furthermore, they have developed thermoelectric devices with high power density, utilizing these innovative semiconductor films. This research significantly contributes to the enhancement of inorganic semiconductor processing and manufacturing technologies, thereby broadening their potential applications.
