Sharp Corporation has announced plans to offload its second LCD panel production facility situated in Kameyama City, Mie Prefecture, Japan, to its parent company Foxconn. This strategic move is aimed at scaling down Sharp's LCD panel operations and enhancing its financial health. The decision comes in response to the dwindling panel prices and profitability resulting from heightened production by Chinese manufacturers. Currently, the Kameyama No.2 plant operates at 80% of its original capacity, and Sharp anticipates a financial turnaround by divesting non-performing assets.
