Junya Koike, Chief Executive Officer of Rapidus, has disclosed that the company is engaged in discussions with approximately 40 to 50 enterprises for foundry services, primarily targeting American tech titans and AI chip startups. Rapidus's pilot production line is already partially operational and aims to present product data by July. Having acquired IBM's 2nm technology, the company aims to commence mass production by 2027, slightly trailing TSMC, but underscores its competitive edge in production speed. Koike asserts that the need for a second supplier from American customers presents a strategic opportunity for Rapidus. Furthermore, the company intends to concurrently develop 1.4nm technology to sustain its competitive edge.
