On May 8, the Yicheng Tianyue 100MW/50.43MWh Independent Hybrid Frequency Modulation Energy Storage Power Station Project, executed under an EPC contract by Gezhouba Electric Power Company of China Energy Engineering Group, commenced official operations. This groundbreaking initiative marks the largest single-unit flywheel energy storage project in Shanxi Province and represents China Energy Engineering Group's inaugural 'hundred megawatt-scale' flywheel energy storage endeavor. The power station integrates flywheel energy storage technology with lithium iron phosphate batteries, effectively mitigating the fluctuations in new energy power generation and alleviating the strain on grid frequency modulation. Specifically, the flywheel energy storage component comprises a 50MW/0.43MWh system, while the electrochemical storage segment consists of 50MW/50MWh lithium iron phosphate batteries.
