In collaboration with a research team from Qingdao University, Researcher Gao Jun from the Qingdao Institute of Biomass Energy and Bioprocess Technology at the Chinese Academy of Sciences has achieved a groundbreaking development in membrane materials. This novel material excels at selectively retaining lithium ions while allowing other cations to pass through freely. Given that lithium ions exhibit a significantly slower migration rate compared to competing ions like potassium and sodium, and possess the lowest electromobility, this membrane material boasts a theoretically higher selectivity for lithium-ion sieving.
