TSMC Initiates Construction of Three Advanced Fabs in the US

TSMC has officially commenced construction on its third fabrication plant (fab) in Arizona, USA, despite incurring losses exceeding RMB 3.2 billion at its first fab in the state last year. Wei Zhejia, Chairman and CEO of TSMC, announced that the company intends to bolster its US presence by introducing even more advanced semiconductor manufacturing capabilities. The first fab in Arizona is already operational and producing in volume, with the second fab poised to adopt 3nm process technology. The third fab, meanwhile, will leverage 2nm or even more advanced process technology.
