On the morning of April 29, President Xi Jinping paid a visit to the BRICS New Development Bank (NDB) in Shanghai, where he met with its President, Dilma Rousseff. During the meeting, President Xi highlighted that "BRICS cooperation" has now attained a phase of high-quality development, urging the NDB to embark on a second "golden decade" of similarly robust progress. He stressed the importance for the Bank to adhere to its founding principles, closely align with the development needs of emerging market and developing countries, and offer high-quality, cost-effective, and sustainable infrastructure financing solutions.

Furthermore, President Xi emphasized the necessity for the NDB to enhance its internal management and operational efficiency, prioritize technology finance and green finance initiatives, assist developing nations in bridging the digital divide, and accelerate their transition towards green and low-carbon economies. He encouraged the Bank to advocate for the interests of emerging market and developing countries in discussions on reforming the international financial architecture, safeguard their legitimate rights and interests, and support their modernization efforts.

As the host country, China pledged its continued and full support for the operational growth of the NDB. China expressed its willingness to deepen project collaboration with the Bank, focusing on green, innovative, and sustainable development to achieve more tangible and impactful cooperation outcomes. Additionally, China hopes to leverage the NDB as a platform to share its development experiences with other member countries and contribute more international public goods to the global community.
