Intel has reportedly entrusted Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) with the production of its Nova Lake CPU, leveraging TSMC's 2nm process technology. Despite Intel's possession of its own 18A process, which it consistently touts as superior to TSMC's 2nm offering, this foundry agreement has garnered significant attention. Both companies are currently engaged in trial production at TSMC's Hsinchu facility, with a focus on enhancing chip yield rates. TSMC anticipates mass production of 2nm chips to commence in the second half of this year. This strategic decision by Intel could be indicative of capacity demands and a pragmatic approach to leveraging cutting-edge technologies.
