Igor's Lab's recent research has unveiled a critical issue of localized high temperatures in the power delivery section of NVIDIA's RTX 50 series GPUs. Numerous Add-In Board (AIB) partner graphics cards are susceptible to overheating in this area, particularly after extended periods of heavy usage, potentially leading to GPU damage and reduced lifespan. The root of the problem lies in the GPU's power delivery system's design, where densely packed components contribute to these concentrated high temperatures. Igor's Lab's thermal imaging tests have confirmed this finding and highlighted that enhanced cooling solutions can effectively mitigate these temperature spikes.
