On April 17, Tenstorrent, a pioneering American AI chip company, announced its intention to undertake advanced chip design contracts in Japan and significantly expand its engineering team in the country by more than six times. Currently, the company boasts a team of approximately 15 engineers in Japan, but by the end of the year, this figure is projected to surge to over 100. This strategic move is aimed at fostering collaboration with Rapidus, a Japanese chip manufacturer, which is set to commence mass production of cutting-edge semiconductors at a new facility in Hokkaido.
