At the GTC conference, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang officially introduced the new AI chip, named Rubin. This moniker honors Vera Rubin, a groundbreaking female scientist renowned for her pivotal role in confirming the existence of dark matter. According to reports, the NVL144 model from the Rubin series is anticipated to hit the market in the second half of 2026, with the higher-performance Ultra variant, NVL576, set for release in the second half of 2027. This naming convention not only pays tribute to Rubin's scientific contributions but also underscores NVIDIA's acknowledgment of the significant achievements of female and minority scientists.
