By the close of 2024, China's new energy vehicle (NEV) fleet had soared to 31.4 million units, with the nation leading the world in power battery installations. Amid the rapid expansion of the NEV industry, the issue of power battery recycling and disposal has garnered significant attention. In response, the State Council has endorsed the "Action Plan for Enhancing the Recycling and Utilization System of New Energy Vehicle Power Batteries," aimed at establishing a standardized, secure, and efficient recycling and utilization framework, ensuring traceability across the entire lifecycle from production, sales, dismantling, to utilization. Currently, the primary methods for recycling and utilizing power batteries involve cascading utilization and recycling, where valuable metals are extracted through chemical or physical processes to facilitate resource recycling.
