On February 7, the Federal Statistical Office of Germany released data revealing that industrial output in the country contracted by 2.4% on a monthly basis in December 2024, representing the steepest drop in five months. Additionally, compared to the same period last year, output declined by 3.1%. This downturn was predominantly driven by the automotive and machinery sectors, pushing the production index to its lowest point since the pandemic's peak.
