U.S. Stock Markets Close Higher, Nasdaq Soars 1.28% to Surpass 20,000-Point Milestone

On January 22, the U.S. stock market witnessed a broad-based rally, with all three major indexes closing in the green. The Nasdaq Composite Index led the way, surging 1.28% to reclaim the prestigious 20,000-point threshold. The S&P 500 Index also posted gains, edging up 0.61% to set a new intraday high and breach the 6,100-point mark. Meanwhile, the Dow Jones Industrial Average notched a 0.30% increase. Among technology giants, Netflix shone brightest with a gain of over 9%, followed closely by Oracle with an increase of more than 6%. Both NVIDIA and Microsoft saw gains exceeding 4%, while Amazon and Meta reported modest rises of over 1%. Tesla, however, defied the upward trend, slipping more than 2%. Chinese stocks, on the other hand, fared less favorably. Li Auto and Bilibili led the decliners with drops of over 4%, while XPeng Inc. fell by more than 3%. New Oriental Education & Technology Group, NetEase, Pinduoduo, and iQIYI all recorded losses of over 1%. In contrast, NIO, JD.com, and Alibaba managed to eke out gains of over 2% and 1%, respectively.
