China Attracts RMB 826.25 Billion in Foreign Investment in 2024

According to statistics from the Ministry of Commerce, the number of newly established foreign-invested enterprises nationwide surged to 59,080 in 2024, marking a 9.9% increase year-on-year. Nevertheless, the actual utilization of foreign capital amounted to RMB 826.25 billion, experiencing a 27.1% decline compared to the previous year. In terms of industrial distribution, the manufacturing sector saw an actual use of foreign capital totaling RMB 221.21 billion, whereas the service sector utilized RMB 584.56 billion. Notably, the high-tech manufacturing sector alone attracted RMB 96.29 billion in foreign capital, accounting for 11.7% of the national total. Within this sector, specific areas like medical equipment and instrument manufacturing, professional and technical services, and computer and office equipment manufacturing witnessed notable increases of 98.7%, 40.8%, and 21.9%, respectively, in the actual use of foreign capital. As for investment sources, China observed increases in actual investments from Spain, Singapore, Germany, and Switzerland by 130.8%, 10.8%, 2.2%, and 1%, respectively (inclusive of investment data via free ports).
