On January 16, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) noted that the domestic chip industry has expressed concerns regarding the substantial subsidies provided by the Biden administration to the US chip industry. These subsidies have created unfair competitive advantages for American companies, which are subsequently exporting mature process chips to China at low prices. This situation poses a threat to the legitimate rights and interests of China's chip industry. In response, China's chip industry has raised valid concerns and has the right to apply for a trade remedy investigation. The spokesperson stressed that the investigating authority will thoroughly review the application and demands of the domestic industry, adhering to Chinese laws and regulations, as well as World Trade Organization (WTO) rules, and will proceed with an investigation in accordance with the law.
