In 2024, China granted a total of 1.045 million invention patents, marking a significant year-on-year increase of 13.5%. The streamlined examination process has reduced the average waiting time to 15.5 months. Moreover, the country's PCT international patent applications reached 75,000, and there were 4,868 international design applications, both figures placing China at the top globally. The number of high-value invention patents per 10,000 people has risen to 14, successfully achieving the target set for the 14th Five-Year Plan ahead of schedule. Furthermore, China's valid domestic invention patents now stand at 4.756 million, making it the first country in the world to surpass the 4 million mark.
