TSMC's Arizona Chip Factory Nears Apple Certification, Yet Trails Behind Taiwan Plant

After four years of meticulous planning, TSMC has made the strategic decision to manufacture older generations of iPhone processors within the United States. Nevertheless, this move does not herald a full-fledged resurgence of the American chip manufacturing sector. In 2020, TSMC unveiled its intentions to construct a facility in Arizona, which later expanded to include a second plant in 2022, with Tim Cook pledging that Apple would incorporate processors produced in Arizona into its devices.
