Nevertheless, this move does not herald a full-fledged resurgence of the American chip manufacturing sector. In 2020, TSMC unveiled its intentions to construct a facility in Arizona, which later expanded to include a second plant in 2022, with Tim Cook pledging that Apple would incorporate processors produced in Arizona into its devices.
