Shanghai: Steadily Advancing the Development of Hydrogen-Based Energy Infrastructure
2025-01-09

The General Office of the Shanghai Municipal Government has released the "Work Plan for Demonstrating and Leading Innovative Development of New Energy Storage in Shanghai (2025-2030)", outlining plans to establish four pivotal hydrogen-based energy hubs in Lingang New Area, Jiading District, the Chemical Industry Park, and Waigaoqiao District. These hubs will prioritize green methanol and green ammonia as their core components. Specifically, green methanol will bolster maritime refueling capabilities while leveraging local resources to ensure a reliable supply chain. On the other hand, green ammonia will serve as the foundation for demonstration plants within the Chemical Industry Park, aimed at reducing production costs. Furthermore, it will be integrated with thermal power projects to facilitate the demonstration of green ammonia blending, gradually increasing the blending ratio. This initiative paves the way for the large-scale utilization of renewable energy, heralding a new era in sustainable energy practices in Shanghai.
